Hubcap Pretty originally consisted of Noah Britton and Bill Taft. Bill Taft plays guitar and sings in Hubcap City (from Belgium), and used to play banjo and cornet in Smoke. Sam Whigham joined in a couple times, too. For Hubcap Pretty, Bill picked up the cornet and banjo again, with his typically beautiful results. This album was the first official recording of Bill playing cornet or banjo since Smoke ended almost 4 years earlier. Hubcap Pretty's CD-R consists of Bill and Noah (with guest appearances by Sam), recording new arrangements of Hubcap City songs. The record was recorded in Bill's house 2001-2005 on Noah's handheld tape recorder. The sound quality is very lo-fi, and the songs are brilliantly written.
